Fly the flag
Back in the 1960s we were still proud of our heritage. We were proud of Britain and all she could produce. If a thing came from Japan then it was probably cheap and inferior, whereas Made in England was an assurance of dependability.
Here are a pair of 27B gears that I bought on eBay this week.
Aren't they splendid? They are a credit to the Nation and her Empire. Boys grew to be sturdy and reliable men in the company of the most excellent Meccano.
Fear not dear reader. There are still places there Britain is proud to fly the flag. Johnny Foreigner may have captured all the manufacturing markets but we still have our strengths.
