What a lovely wall.  It has a bit of everything: A blocked door, old brickwork, flints, ferns and a laughing plank.

Oh look!  My glass really was empty. On several occasions apparently.

Are you one of those "My carafe is half empty" folks? Or are you more "you don't get much in a carafe these days"

I am often asked how computers work. Well, in order to avoid a long and futile explanation, here is a photo of the actual inside of a computer*. As you see it is a lot more complicated then most folks expect. *This is an old fashioned Analogue Computer. Modern computers are even more crowded and quite a bit smaller. Apple computers are black inside only contain a vacuum.

Here's a giant spiky cactus thing that has enhanced itself with extra spikyness. I carefully posed this giant succulent against the low sun to get the silhouette effect and also show those excellent illuminated spikes. No photographers were injured in taking this picture.                

Be careful where you park when you are abroad. Check the neighbourhood. You might come back and find someone has stolen the wheels off your boat.

I don't know who fitted this stone lion with dentures, but we need to get them back in order to do a better job.

You may think that bricks and mortar are universal, but here in Cyprus they use stones - and more stones. It is true that some of the buildings have that half finished look. This is the local Post Office. And some buildings have that half started look. Here we see the Asda car park at Paphos.

Here is a curiosity:  As you see, its an array of radar dishes aimed at the horizon clearly intended for an early cold war missile early warning system.  I have to observe however, wood is a strange choice of material for this particular application. I expect it was all held together with hazelnuts.

Here's a secret dark corner where all the good stuff is kept. What is it? Where are we? Well, it is the museum of rural life in Steni, Cyprus. But I shouldn't have told you that.

Ah! Lovely laid back Cyprus . Well, parts of it are laid back. For example, when you go out it is perfectly acceptable to sellotape your door shut. There is an agreement that sticky tape across a door is equivalent to locking it.  What a good idea. Here is an example of a front door owned by a trusting citizen. However this degree of trust does not extend to the local Banks. Chastened by the financial crisis they have now adopted stern security to combat unauthorised withdrawals at the weekend.  Note the sturdy chain and padlock here.
